It's really simple, my friend.

All you have to do is select the books you want to save (in your case, all of them). Then, you click on the icon "save to disc" that is at the top of the calibre library (with all the other icons). You select the external hard drive you've decided to use and click ok. Et voila.

I hope my explanation was clear.

If not, don't hesitate to ask anything else.

You can actually just copy the entire Calibre Library folder to your external drive. The root of this folder contains a small database file containing all your tags, metadata, etc.

Just close calibre before you do the copy, that way all file handles are closed.

So if I save all the books to disc, then when I want to add, I just highlight the new books to save?

And if I do the whole folder, do I replace the older one?

Thanks so much!

In general I copy and replace the older ones in my backup external hard drive. I do that because I change often the metadata in my libray

I recommend using a program like supercopier (free) and recopying the whole directory (That database file will have changed, in addition to the new files / directories storing your books). It has the ability to only overwrite changed files, so that actual copy will go very quickly the second time.

I found a cool site that lets you save your entire calibre library to it plus you can still save on external. The site is dropbox. There is a way to fix the calibre library where it will automatically go to dropbox too to save online.
